Maintenance and the Menstruating Body: A design workshop toward interventions on public infrastructure

  • Murmur 100 Broad Street Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30303 United States (map)

Join us for this amazing workshop led by Sarah Fox!

In this workshop, we seek to examine current limitations to menstrual hygiene distribution in public settings, with an eye toward imagining alternative artifacts and arrangements. We will investigate current products, services and systems in ways that may reveal paths to alternative futures.

Through this workshop, we aim to:

• Sharpen our understandings of maintenance practice and the distribution of menstrual hygiene resources

• Examine design for menstrual hygiene, and reimagine how existing models of material production and distribution might consider maintenance across time and sites

• Brainstorm and collectively develop a set of design ideas that we see as addressing crucial distribution concerns, identified in the workshop and expanded on later through online discussion and prototyping activity
